Your new house has a pre-existing security system
Many times after you close on a new house, you’ll find that the old owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras work, are placed in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to make sure there are no usability issues, and they may offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The old owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the outgoing residents downsize to a condo or smaller home, you keeping the security contract may be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your home security devices with you
You may want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to a new place when you move. It should be fairly simple to transfer, as modern components are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera yourself or contact a Vivint expert to dismantle your devices. Then an expert will set up the same components -- and any new things you need -- in the new house. The home security contract will remain the same.
